Well, we made it…although my caulk and duct tape was defeated on our windows that were exposed to the direct wind/rain. Turned the caulk to a substance that resembled ricotta cheese. Very strange.
Anyway, with our towels and persistence, we were able to keep the water out of most of our stuff.
That is, until it started raining in the bathroom.
Don’t know exactly why, but it was actively raining in our bathroom. I just stared at the ceiling with a blank stare, as we had been up every hour or so since 10pm - it was now around 330 am. At about that point, Rachel calls me from the other room and says there’s an emergency.
The window in our back room had sprung a leak so big, it was as if someone was throwing about a soda-can’s worth of water on us every 3-5 seconds.
After stuffing a rag in the general area that was spurting water, I told her we better just shut the door and go to bed.
Ya gotta know when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em.
We managed to get the place back to normal the next day, with the aid of our new WetVac. All told, think we sucked up about 10-15 gallons of standing water. It was around an inch deep in some places in that back bedroom.
When we moved in here, I thought it was strange that every room except one had tile in it.
I no longer find this strange.
